"Balcony"

material: oil, acrylic on canvas

Created with the "Picselazum" technique, it shows an old balcony with the traces of time.

"Home"

size (cm):

material: oil, acrylic on canvas

Created with the "Picselazum" technique, it depicts the view I saw throughout my childhood: our street overlooking the majestic Mount Ararat. After more than a decade without seeing it, I came home early in the morning. It was dark, the air was fresh, and everything seemed painted blue. Within seconds, the sun came out and filled everything with light, bringing everything to life. The blue air softened, and the majestic mountain seemed to shine/glow. I took a photo. Many years later, I painted what I saw and felt that morning.

"Earthquake" taken from an old photograph.

size (cm) 103 x 84

material: oil, acrylic on canvas

Created with the "Picselazum" technique, it depicts the terrible 1988 earthquake in Armenia, which claimed thousands of lives.

The entire canvas, except for the girl, is painted in various shades of gray. Only the main figure, the girl, is painted orange-yellow, the color of the sun and life. The pixels are made with gray acrylic. Only the pixels where the girl is, are painted yellow, and the sky above the pixels is painted light blue (a dream, perfect world that existed for the girl). Between the girl (painted yellow) and the blue sky (painted above the pixels), there is no connection, only gray.

Up close, it appears to be an abstract painting; only from a distance does the landscape open up.

"Hommage To The Great Armenian Artist Minas Avetisyan"

material: oil, acrylic on canvas

Made with the “Picselazum” technique, the colors have become more intense, due to the pixels, which have their own shadow and shine.

"The Limits Of Man"

(three paintings in one, depends on the light and the filter)

size (cm): 100 x 81

material: oil, acrylic on canvas

Made with the "Picselazum" technique, it depicts the late American singer Michael Jackson. It consists of three portraits on the same surface. The first is painted in blue on the canvas, beneath the pixels. The pixels are then created in a monotonous gray. The second portrait is painted over the pixels, creating two portraits, one above the other without touching. The third face is created in our mind, merging them.

Perception depends largely on the viewer's position and the light itself. When using a red filter, only one of the two faces is visible: the one on the surface, and when using a blue filter, only the face behind the pixels is visible. Malevich's Black Square is an attempt to break away from figurative representation and symbolism. For me, it's like a world within a world, where the lines are clear and straight, nothing is blurred. I integrated that idea with the intention of showing "The Limits of Man." On the surface, above the pixels, the squares are intact, with clear lines, but beneath the surface, on the canvas, the black paint leaves a large stain on the singer's face.

"The Idea Of A Portrait" taken from a photo

size (cm): 100 x 84

material: oil, acrylic on canvas

Made with the "Picselazum" technique, it shows the same person in two moods, on the same surface. The first is painted in blue on the canvas, beneath the pixels. The pixels are then created in a monochrome gray. The second portrait is painted in red, above the pixels, and so creating two portraits, one above the other without touching. The third face is created in our minde, merging them together. But there is also a fourth one: if the light is from the side, the two faces don't blend much, and the dominant one is the one on the surface of the pixels. However, if the light is from the front, the one beneath the pixels begins to stand out and dominate.

Perception depends largely on the viewer's position and the light itself. When using a red filter, only one of the two faces is visible: the one on the surface, and when using a blue filter, only the face behind the pixels is visible.
